ReSound and space150 give the GIF of hearing at AudiologyNOW!
Interactive trade show experience bridges physical and digital to amplify moments that reconnect people to hearing at the 2013 AudiologyNOW! Conference in Anaheim, Calif.
MINNEAPOLIS (April 5, 2013) – Hearing is something many of us take for granted everyday, but for ReSound, a leader in hearing aid products, it is the moments of rediscovering hearing that matter most. That’s why, when faced with building a trade show exhibit for this week’s AudiologyNOW! conference in Anaheim, Calif., ReSound teamed up with space150 to create an immersive digital experience that celebrates the moments and stories of hearing professionals that give the gift of hearing. This experience is an extension of ReSound’s Moments Movement, a site where hearing professionals can share their stories of reconnecting patients to hearing.
To amplify these powerful moments, visitors to ReSound’s booth can demonstrate what the gift of hearing means to them in a photo booth that takes 12 high-resolution snapshots. These images are then animated on a 10-by-8-foot photo wall projection. Using computer vision technology that scans and analyzes motion, visitors can control their photos with gestures. As a visitor gestures from left to right, their 12 photos animate from start to finish.
“We thought about the moment of joy that accompanies the gift of hearing, and how to represent that joy and personal emotion in a digital interaction,” said Eric Skogen, research software engineer at space150. “We designed a physical space where people can share and interact with a 12-frame moment in time, and interact with each other. It’s a life-size version of that perfectly familiar shareable concept, the animated GIF!”
Upon engaging with the ReSound experience, four of the twelve frames are printed onto a badge that admits conference attendees into the ReSound party, MOMENTUS!, at the House of Blues on Friday night. Attendees can also access their GIF experience later through a third-party site and share that content via social media.
AudiologyNOW! conference runs from Thursday, April 4 through Saturday, April 6 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. It is an important event to showcase the products and connect with the audiology community. After winning Best of Show in 2012, ReSound chose to partner with space150 again to make take this year’s trade show experience to the next level.
